The following departments participate in the development process.
Building & Fire Safety
Building & Fire Safety is a division of the Bentonville Fire Department and is responsible for ensuring buildings and structures meet adopted building and fire codes, mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, energy and electric codes to safeguard health, safety and property.
Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement is a division of the Community Development Department and is responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and to preserve the aesthetic character of Bentonville through the enforcement of city ordinances, the property maintenance code, and the sign code. Comprehensive Planning
Comprehensive Planning is a division of the Community Development Department responsible for long-range planning, the future land use plan, plan implementation, development reports, demographic data, regulatory review, and community programs.
Current Planning
Current Planning is a division of the Community Development Department and is responsible for the review of zoning and development plans and is the staff support to the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
Economic Development
Economic Development works with the Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce to bring new businesses to Bentonville and assist them with initiating the development process.
Engineering
Engineering is a division of the Transportation Department that provides advice and technical expertise regarding development, including review of development plans, maintenance of design and construction specifications, conducting construction field inspections, and ensure that all work conforms to city codes.
Water & Sewer
The Water Department ensures that water and sewer infrastructure is designed and constructed in compliance with city codes and specifications.
