Street Department

Responsibilities

  • The Street Department maintains 600 traffic lane miles, over 200 miles of sidewalk and 250 miles of drainage ditches. Currently there are 35 detention ponds that are also maintained by the Street Department.
  • The Street Department also maintains 43 Traffic Signals along with Street Signage and Markings.

Department Information

The Street Department prioritizes its workload through a work order system in which the work orders are classified by high, medium, and low classifications.

Use bentonville311.com to report an issue. This will allow you to track your request as progress is made and keep your concern in a database for City accountability.

Residents may call 479-271-3130 to report any Street or Drainage issue and staff personnel will investigate and create a work order if warranted.

Snow and Ice

Depending on what type of winter event happens the Street Department may pretreat the hills, bridges, and overpasses with a salt brine solution. Once snow has accumulated to two inches or more on the roads, plow trucks are dispatched for snow removal. When certain sections of roads become ice packed, trucks are dispatched to spray a enhanced salt brine solution in order to deice the area. Please refer to the Snow Removal Procedures under the quick links tab for additional information.
