Bentonville, AR… The Bentonville Planning Commission held a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 for the proposed Bentonville Community Plan. The commission tabled the agenda item for two weeks to make final adjustments to the document. The final draft is now available on the project website (http://www.bentonvillear.com/259/Bentonville-Community-Plan). Planning Commission will hold another public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Development Building at 305 SW A Street.
The project website contains a link to the “Interactive Future Land Use Map” that allows users to view the proposed Future Land Use Map and compare it with the existing Future Land Use Map, which was adopted in 2007. The site provides a slider in the middle of the map. The left pane contains the current plan and the right pane shows the proposed plan. Users can search by address, zoom in and out, and click links for details about each land use classification.
The proposed Bentonville Community Plan is the City of Bentonville’s most basic statement of public policy that serves as a guide describing how the city can achieve its desired future and providing direction to city leaders as they make decisions. The plan includes the Future Land Use Map that shows the desired location for each land use as the city continues to grow and develop and serves as a guide for land use and development decisions. A three-year process guided by a steering committee and involving public workshops, public hearings, and community surveys provided the direction for plan development.
