Bentonville, AR… The City of Bentonville has had a wonderful partnership with the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics in improving the Bentonville Municipal Airport. The airport has accepted a $2,278,481 federal grant and recently requested and received a matching grant of $250,000 from the state. Jerry Chism, Director of Arkansas Department of Aeronautics will present the $250,000 check to Mayor Stephanie Orman in her office this afternoon at 4 p.m.
The Bentonville Municipal Airport has utilized the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grant to construct a west parallel taxiway. The construction of the taxiway has improved airport safety by reducing the number of back taxi operations on active runways. It has also facilitated further development of the new general aviation area located on the west side of the airport.
Over the past ten years, the Bentonville Municipal Airport has been granted $1,626,981.53 in state-grants in order to improve the safety of the airport and follow Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The airport has received multiple awards commending its commitment to safety.
