Bentonville, AR...Bentonville Parks & Recreation invites the community to attend a grand opening celebration for Citizens Park Playground on Saturday, October 19th. This celebration will take place at the playground, located in the southwest corner of Citizens Park at 1101 SW Citizens Circle.
Citizens Park Playground is the first inclusive playground in Bentonville. Our playground is the result of public input, designed for our residents with special needs, but includes the play value for able-bodied children as well. The playground will be one that removes the physical barriers of play so that all children, regardless of ability, will play together without any physical challenges.
To celebrate this unique facility, we are excited to welcome special guests including The Peterson Family, an inspirational family featured on ESPN (http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/23949456), and the 4 time Grammy Nominated children’s band, Trout Fishing in America (https://www.troutmusic.com/). The event will kick off at 10:00 am with the Run Together Family Fun Run around the Citizens Park trail. Trout Fishing in America will perform at 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. In between performances, a special message from the Peterson family will be shared, along with speeches from Parks and Recreation Director, David Wright and Mayor Stephanie Orman followed by a ribbon cutting at 11:45 am. Along with live music, we will also have food, games, vendors, and more! This event is free to the public.
