Bentonville, AR… The Government Finance Officers Association has announced that the City of Bentonville, Arkansas, has received GFOA’S Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2019 budget.
In a release from the GFOA. The award represents a significant achievement by the entity. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
Mayor Stephanie Orman says, “I am proud of the City staff and our finance director, Jake Harper who work diligently to keep our city moving forward with their attention to detail to ensure tax payer dollars are budgeted and spent wisely. Hundreds of hours are dedicated to preparing and maintaining the City budget.”
The City of Bentonville’s 2020 budget will be presented at the City Council meeting on November 12, 2019.
