Bentonville,
AR…Mayor
Bob McCaslin is pleased to announce the City of Bentonville has been named a
Volunteer Community of the Year for the eighth consecutive year. This honor was
achieved due to the generosity of a combined 23,522 volunteers from 49 partner
organizations who volunteered 400,601 hours.
These hours are valued at over $9.6 million and represent a generous
gift to our community.
This award is sponsored by the Governor’s
Office, the Arkansas Municipal League, and the Arkansas Department of Human
Services Division of Community Service and Non-Profit Support. The Arkansas Department of Transportation
provides signs publicizing the Arkansas Volunteer Community of the Year
designation. The signs are placed at
prominent locations along highways outside of the winning cities. A recognition luncheon will take place during
the Arkansas Municipal League’s winter conference that will be held in Ft.
Smith in January.
A panel of citizens from across the state
served on the selection committee.
Joining Bentonville with this recognition is Benton, Clarkridge, Clarksville,
Everton, Fort Smith, Greenbrier, Jonesboro, Marianna, Mountain Home, Siloam
Springs and Van Buren.
The Arkansas Department of Human Services
Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support promotes and supports
volunteerism in the private, non-profit and governmental sectors as a means of
enhancing the quality of life for all Arkansans.
