Welcome to the City of Bentonville’s Volunteer Program!

The Bentonville Volunteer Program offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, families, groups, organizations and businesses. Volunteer activities include the Adopt-A-Park / Trail and Adopt-A-Street programs; landscaping installation and maintenance; tree planting; litter pickup along city trails, streets and in city parks; recreation programs assistance; Bentonville Public Library assistance; office assistance; Downtown Bentonville, Inc. assistance (special events) and seasonal opportunities such as the “Letters to Santa” program.

As a volunteer, you play a vital role in the welfare of the community because volunteers help close gaps in services to ensure community needs are met. We are lucky to have individuals, families and groups in the community who recognize the need and feel inclined to give their time as a gift!

Before volunteering for the City, the first step is to fill out the Volunteer Registration form and the Volunteer Liability Waiver form.

If you have questions or need additional information, please e-mail me at dshasteen@bentonvillear.com or call me at (479) 271-6826.

Thank you for your interest in the Bentonville Volunteer Program and I look forward to working with you on future volunteer opportunities!

Volunteer Community of the Year Award

Special Events:

City Wide Cleanup Day:

The City is participating in the Great American Cleanup™ by organizing a city-wide clean-up day scheduled for Saturday, May 11th.

Volunteers are needed to help pick up litter along city streets and recreational trails, in drainage ditches, detention ponds and in and along creek beds. For safety reasons, groups with children under the age of 12 are assigned to off street locations.

Please register in advance by May 8th by filling out the registration form. For more information, contact Danielle Shasteen, Community Programs Coordinator at dshasteen@bentonvillear.com or (479) 271-6826.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:

Adopt-A-Park / Adopt-A-Trail (Limited Availability):

These programs offer an opportunity for people to get involved in their community in an effort to promote civic pride, appreciation and awareness. It is a partnership between the City and the community to keep the trail network and park system safe, free of trash, tree limbs and other debris, aesthetically pleasing and in the best condition possible. Participants are asked to volunteer a minimum of three times per year.

Adopt-A-Street (Limited Availability):

This program is a partnership between the City and the community to keep the city free of litter, one street at a time. Groups adopt a street ½ mile or more in length and agree to remove litter three (3) times per year.

Bentonville Public Library:

The BPL offers several opportunities for adults, families and teens. All members of a community, working together, sharing time and talent, can make a big difference in the quality of library services offered to our growing area.

Bicycle Maintenance:

The Downtown Activity Center offers a bicycle rental program where Bentonville residents may rent a mountain or road bike. The Parks & Recreation Department needs volunteers on a weekly basis to help clean and inspect the bikes.

Office Assistance:

Occasionally the Parks & Recreation staff at the Downtown Activity Center need volunteers to assist with office work such as sorting flyers and stuffing envelopes for mass mailings. To be added to the notification list of when assistance is needed please fill out the Volunteer Registration form.

United Way of NWA:

There are several volunteer opportunities for nonprofit, social service organizations in Bentonville through the United Way of NWA. Please visit http://www.unitedwaynwa.org/ for more information and to sign up.
