Organizes, directs, and integrates the functions of the street department, which includes engineering reviews of street and storm water infrastructure proposed by development; storm drain construction and repair; storm water collection system design and maintenance; sidewalk, curb, and gutter maintenance, and street signage.

Minimum Requirements:

Associates Degree (A. A.) or equivalent in civil or construction engineering or a related field and four to ten years related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.  Five-plus years of progressively responsible public works maintenance experience in a management or supervisory capacities.

This is a “Seasonal” position with the Bentonville Parks Department – working on-or-about 15 April, 2010 through 5 September, 2010.  Evening and weekend work is required.   Duties include supervising the daily operational activities of the swimming pool, pool staff, and the associated pool facilities.  This includes scheduling pool staff, supervising pool staff, ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of pool facilities, and managing all pool activities. Duties also include ensuring the safety and well-being of the staff and patrons using the pool and associated facilities and other duties as assigned.  Position reports to the Bentonville Parks and Recreation Director.  A complete job description is available to applicants upon request.

Job Summary:

Plans, designs, reviews, and directs civil engineering projects for the City including roads, airports, bridges, irrigation systems, and  pipelines.   Oversees the planning, design, construction and estimating of current development projects such as major, collector, and local streets, transportation facilities, public structures, and storm water systems. 

Manages the Construction Inspectors and other engineering support personnel.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the City’s engineering efforts and activities.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent in civil or construction engineering and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Five-plus years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience in a management or supervisory level supplemented by college-level coursework with a concentration in civil engineering, public administration, construction management, or other job-related field. MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING (PE) CERTIFICATION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING.

Fire Fighter

Job Summary:

The City of Bentonville is taking applications for testing for Full-Time and part-Time Firefighters.  Job duties include responding to fire, rescue, and emergency medical calls, performing all fire-fighting duties and advanced emergency medical procedures, operating fire apparatus, rescue equipment, and all related tools and equipment, performing necessary inventory and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, performing necessary housekeeping duties, aiding with inspection and fire prevention programs, and other related duties.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualified applicants must have a H.S. diploma or equivalent and possess a valid driver’s license. Applicants for full-time positions must also have Arkansas certification as EMT-A or EMT-P at the time of hire. Related experience and Paramedic Certification is preferred.

Job Summary:

Responsible, under the Systems Manager, for the overall coordination of the City’s Information Systems networks and daily network functions.  Plans, develops, coordinates and supervises the City’s data communication networks, both local area and remote, including network design, installations, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the City’s information systems networks and associated assemblies.  Frequently acts as “Team Lead” to coordinate the activities of the information systems team to meet project guidelines.  Assists the Systems Manager in the supervising and training of other Systems staff members. 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MUST have CISCO firewall and network security Training.  Must possess or be able to obtain valid driver’s license.

Knowledge required:  Knowledge of principles of technology related to the installation, diagnosis, testing and maintenance of local and wide area networks; of operating principles, methods, practices, options, and limitations of the City’s networks; of record-keeping practices; and of the learning principles involved in skills training.
