Assistant Fire Chief

Brief Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Fire Chief, assists the Chief in planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating all the activities and services of the fire department, including fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), and other services relating to the protection of lives and property. Also, in the absence of the fire Chief, serves as the City’s Emergency Management Coordinator. Performs these duties either directly or through subordinate supervisors. Minimum Requirements:

Successfully served in the capacity of a “Battalion Chief” or higher over a multi-station fire department (3 or more stations) of full-time firefighters with an EMS service/ responsibility (Paramedics) for a minimum of 5 years. Have 15 or more years of organized firefighting experience in full-time fire departments, with increasing levels of leadership and responsibility. Must be willing and able to serve 10+ years before normal retirement eligibility. Also, must be a “Licensed Paramedic” with 10+ years of paramedic experience and able to relocate (if necessary) within 60 days of receiving a job offer.

Additionally, it is highly desired that candidates have a 4-Year degree (Bachelors) in management, public administration, or a related field, a 2-Year degree (Associates) in fire science, fire management, or a related field, and be a graduate of the National Fire Academy

Recreation Specialist I/II/III

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Programs Supervisor, coordinates daily recreation activities for citizens, community groups, youth groups, sports teams, and other individuals and groups for both indoor and outdoor recreation activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises between 1 and 35 seasonal employees at the swimming pool. Additionally, directly supervises between 1 and 10 seasonal employees at the ice skating rink. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with an emphasis in recreation management or an associated field; and minimum 3 years experience working in recreation programs and activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Title:

1st Class Powerline Electrician

Job Summary:

Acts as lead worker in performing skilled technical work in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution lines in accordance with accepted safety and electrical standards. Supervises subordinate linemen and groundsmen.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; at least five years experience in electrical line construction and maintenance; completion of 4-Year Apprentice Line Program and hot line schools and seminars. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others. Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools and equipment of setting line; of electrical construction and maintenance, including installation of all sizes of electrical conduit, cables, wire, etc., and of proper safety precautions. Must be able to work at considerable heights, under adverse weather conditions, and with high and low voltage. Must possess valid CDL.
