Bentonville Public Library Celebrates 10 Years on Main Street

Bentonville, AR...Bentonville Public Library is celebrating 10 years on Main Street! Join BPL and celebrate the joyous occasion at special events and more with help from the Bentonville Library Foundation and the Friends of the Bentonville Library October 22-October 29.

October 22- Visit the Friends of the Bentonville Library at the Farmers Market at Bentonville’s downtown square!
October 24-29- BPL welcomes special storytime readers including the Mayor and the Library Advisory Board!
October 27- Be “Booked for the Evening” with the Bentonville Library Foundation as we celebrate 10 years and honor individuals with the inaugural library service awards.
October 29- The Friends of the Bentonville Library welcome all to a “Breakfast with Friends”, a free pancake breakfast! Other special events throughout the day include musical performances, drop-in activities for kids and teens, and the unveiling of a limited edition library card designed by Bentonville’s own artist and children’s book illustrator, Ard Hoyt!

The first library in Bentonville opened in 1934. Over the next years, the library moved four times before settling in on the first floor of the historic Massey Hotel on the Bentonville Square in 1979. On October 30, 2006, the Main Street facility opened to the public.

Since 2006, Bentonville Public Library has recorded 2.7 million visits and their collection has more than doubled from 62,266 items to 133,215 items that have been circulated over 4.8 million times! More than 58,000 library cards have been issued and programs and special events have been attended by over 275,000 people.

BPL recognizes that it is people that make our library great! They are the heart of this celebration, and we are grateful and honored to be part of a community that has given us its full support throughout BPL’s history! With our patrons and supporters in mind, each event is our way of saying “Thank you!”
