Bentonville, AR…Bentonville’s Code Enforcement Division is responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and to preserve the aesthetic character of Bentonville through the enforcement of city ordinances and the property maintenance code. This division is responsible for:
     • Establishing minimum standards governing property maintenance and appearance;
     • Inspecting for compliance with property maintenance codes;
     • Managing code violation cases; and,
     • Conducting energy audits.

Currently, this division consists of two employees that cover the 31 square miles of Bentonville. The department patrols the city to identify visible violations and investigates calls made by citizens. With a small staff and a growing community, it can be challenging to stay ahead.

The division is now taking measures toward a more proactive approach; believing that successful compliance is achieved through public education and positive collaboration with property owners.

To introduce this new philosophy, the City of Bentonville has unveiled a new logo for the code enforcement division: Neighborhood Improvement through Citizen Engagement, otherwise known as N.I.C.E. The logo is designed to provide a fresh look to the code enforcement division and to reflect its goal of working with citizens to meet city codes. The logo has been placed on city code enforcement vehicles and is used on all correspondence from the division.

Details on the code enforcement division and the property maintenance code are located on the city website at http://www.bentonvillear.com/departments/Code-enforcement.
