Bentonville, AR- The Bentonville Police Department announces the Citizens Police Academy, Class 2016-A, that will begin on July 21, 2016 at 6PM in the Bentonville Police Department Training Room. The academy was established in 1999 and has successfully graduated over 300 citizens with an eight-week program designed to give a working knowledge of the Bentonville Police Department. Each session consist of eight consecutive Thursday evening classes. The training will be comprehensive and will include lectures, demonstrations and facility tours. 


Citizens will have the opportunity to explore separate areas such as K-9 Teams, Bomb Squad, Criminal Investigations, Forensics and a ride-a-long with a Patrol Officer on shift. Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy will gain an intimate knowledge of the daily operations of the police department and cultivate a better understanding of the unique challenges in law enforcement.
