Citizens Police Academy begins June 8

Bentonville, AR- The Bentonville Police Department announces its Citizens Police Academy will start on June 8, 2017 at 6 p.m., in the Bentonville Police Department Training Room. Selected candidates will attend every Thursday evening for eight consecutive weeks. The academy was established in 1999 and has successfully graduated over 400 citizens with an eight-week program designed to give a working knowledge of the Bentonville Police Department. Each session consists of eight consecutive Thursday evening classes. The training will be comprehensive and will include lectures, demonstrations and facility tours. Citizens will have the opportunity to explore separate areas such as K-9 Teams, Bomb Squad, Criminal Investigations,Forensics and the Patrol Division. Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy will gain an intimate knowledge of the daily operations of the police department and cultivate a better understanding of the unique challenges in law enforcement.
