City of Bentonville Participates in Community Rating System

Bentonville, AR – October 18, 2016… The City of Bentonville has been a participant in the Community Rating System sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency since 1992.  This program allows the city to work towards a rate reduction for everyone in our community that has a flood insurance policy.

At present, the city’s participation in this program, with a current CRS Rating of 8, affords all flood insurance policy holders to enjoy a 10% discount.  The city will continue to strive for further rate reductions that should benefit all residents with a policy.

As part of the annual Outreach Program, it is the city’s responsibility to make available to the general public, real-estate agencies, insurance agencies, and mortgage lenders certain documents, rate map information, as well as flood insurance purchase requirements.

Bentonville Special Flood Hazard Areas are mapped on the city GIS website under the FEMA “Current” layer.  Any person interested in information regarding Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA), flood insurance, floodplain regulations, elevations certificates, or Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM Maps) may contact the Stormwater Coordinator at 479-271-3168 or come by the Community Development Building, Engineering Department at 305 SW A St in Bentonville by appointment.  Please provide a current address, a subdivision name/block/lot number or a tax parcel identification number to help expedite any information request.  The FEMA Map Service Center website (https://msc.fema.gov/portal) is useful too. 

Additional documents and FEMA information pamphlets are also on display at the Bentonville Public Library on 405 S Main Street.
