HAWK Signalized Pedestrian Crossing

Bentonville, AR…   Please be advised that the newly constructed HAWK (High-intensity Activated crossWalK) signal located on E. Central Ave. should be placed into flash mode on Thursday, May 04, 2017.   The signal will constantly flash yellow until it is fully operational on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  This period of constant yellow flashing will notify motorist of the new location of this crossing.
We ask that both motorist and pedestrians familiarize themselves with the different phases of operation involved with the HAWK signal.  Included below is a short description of the phases.
Once the HAWK signal is fully operational the flashing yellow will stop and the signal will go dark until activated by a crossing pedestrian.  At this time vehicles will see the following phases:

HAWK signal                                       Motorist Instruction
Dark                                                      Proceed as normal
Flashing YELLOW                               Pedestrians have activated the push button
Solid YELLOW                                    Prepare to stop for pedestrian crossing
Solid RED                                           Stop and allow pedestrians to cross
Flashing RED                                      After stopping then check for pedestrians, if clear proceed
Dark                                                     Proceed as normal
