Welcome to the City of Bentonville web-site. Bentonville is an old-line
Arkansas community experiencing very rapid growth over the last 15 years.
Our community continues to make every effort to ensure our utility
infrastructure maintains pace with the ever increasing demands of
residential and commercial growth.
There are three major utility subdivisions within the City - Water,
Wastewater, and Electric. I will briefly describe each one and provide
contacts for further information.
WATER UTILITIES
The City purchases treated water from the Beaver Water District in Lowell,
Arkansas. The water source is Beaver Lake located largely in Benton County.
The Bentonville Water Utility supplies water to the adjacent Bella Vista
community. Our water quality and delivery pressure are both excellent and
ample storage capacity is available for peak loads and emergencies.
We are currently in the process of constructing a new 48" transmission
supply pipeline designed to serve the City for at least the next 20 years.

WASTEWATER UTILITIES
Bentonville owns and operates a 5 million gallon per day extended aeration
wastewater plant. The plant maintains strict effluent limits year around. A
composting facility is also operated by the City, which converts biosolids
and woodwaste products into a class "A" compost for sale to the public.
Bentonville is also a member of the Northwest Arkansas Conservation
Authority which is aggressively pursuing the construction of a Regional
Wastewater Treatment Plant designed to accommodate the future growth of
Bentonville and many surrounding communities.

ELECTRIC UTILITIES
Bentonville is one of 14 municipal electric power providers in Arkansas.
The system purchases wholesale power from Southwestern Electric Power, which
has recently become a subsidiary of American Electric Power. The Bentonville
utility operates 6 sub-stations. We have very competitive rates for both
residential and large power customers. Our reliability is second to none.
We are currently constructing two new substations to increase the system
wide delivery capacity by 33%.
