    Utility Billing and Collections

eGov Online for Utilities

The City of Bentonville offers 24/7 access to your utility account through our eGov for Utilities web site.

This website offers you the ability to view and graph your monthly water and electric usage, review utility charges and payments for up to three years of history. In addition, with a Master Card or Visa credit or debit card you are able to make payments on your account.

All it takes to use this service is a few minutes to register your account.

If you would like your initial PIN number to access your account, just email or call the utility billing office and we can send you what you will need. You can also register by going to   https://egov.bentonvillear.com/
Click2GovCXP/Index.jsp
. You will need your account number and cycle and route from the top of your utility bill.

Once you have your initial PIN number, simply enter your account number (with the dash) and PIN. You will be asked to change your PIN and enter an email address. After you have submitted this information, an email will be

sent to you to confirm your email address. There is a link in the email you must click on to complete the registration process.

Bill notification by email

If you would like to receive an email each month notifying you of your charges and the due date of your bill, just send us an email or give us a call.

For your privacy, this email does not include detailed information about your charges, however, you can access detailed information on your account by registering your account on our eGov for Utilities website.

Automatic Bank Drafting                                        To sign up for this service click here.

Did you know you can have your utility bill automatically drafted from your checking account?

If you choose this option to pay your utility bill, you are still sent a bill just like now and the draft does not take place until the due date of the bill.

This payment option allows you to avoid having to remember to mail or drop off your utility payment saving you time and postage. It also is guaranteed that your payment will be received by the due date, taking away any concerns about your payment being misdirected in the mail.

To sign-up for this program, just stop by the utility billing office or give us a call and we can send you the authorization we will need you to complete. For more information or to print an authorization go to the web address listed above.

Billing Cycles and Trash Collection Schedule:

The City of Bentonville's Geographic Information System (GIS) website provides maps of Bentonville with a wide variety of information.  One of which includes a map of Bentonville Utilities.  The Bentonville Utilities map provides information on the utility billing cycles and trash collection schedule.  To access this map, as well as Bentonville GIS maps, go to http://gis.bentonvillear.com

Meter Reading

Help us accurately read your electric and water meter by ensuring that the meter readers are able to access your meter. Please trim back any bushes around your meter and do not pile anything in front of or on top of your meter. If you would like to keep your gate locked, please contact the meter reading department to arrange to drop a key off to us.

Average Billing

The City of Bentonville offers an Average Billing Program for your utility account.  This program eliminates the peaks and valleys of your utility bills.  However, it is not a set average, it does fluctuate.  This fluctuation is because we actually recalculate your average every month, eliminating an annual settle-up that typically takes place with many levelized billing programs.

To find out more about this service and/or to sign up for the Average Billing Program, click here, or stop by our office.

Help Us Post Your Payment Accurately

Mail in or Drop-off Payments

Help us to post your payment accurately. Please record how much of your payment should be credited to your account(s) on your payment coupon. This is especially important if you are not paying your account in full, making a donation to the utility assistance program or are paying on more than one account.

All of the envelopes that arrive in our office are opened by an automatic mail opener. This machine can damage or destroy your payment if you fold, staple or paper clip the items in your envelope.

There is a drop-box, for after hour payments, in front of the City Hall building.  We recommend that you do not use cash as a form of payment when using this method.

If you need to make a cash payment, please come in to the office during business hours and we will be happy to process your payment and give you a receipt.

Paying with your bank’s online bill pay

Please review your bank’s guidelines on scheduling your payment with us. These payments are actually mailed to us so you will need to schedule the payment with enough time for them to arrive from the payment processing center. Most of these centers are located out of state.

In addition to scheduling them early enough so they arrive on time, please review the information you have stored on their system for your payment to us. Your payment’s processing can be delayed if you do not have an accurate account number listed for each payment. This typically is a problem if you have moved from one address to another, but not updated your account number.

Pay to the Order Of

Please make sure all utility payments are made payable to “The City of Bentonville.”

Payments are posted the same day they arrive in our office, unless it is after business hours or we need more information to process your payment.
