The Signals section is responsible for the maintenance of traffic signals, school and fire flashing beacons as well as crosswalk beacons. There are currently more than 54 traffic signals and 3 Hawk Pedestrian Crossing Signals in the City of Bentonville. All signals along major traffic corridors run AM, Noon, and PM timing/coordination plans.
The Operations section is responsible for the design and installation of all Traffic Control Devices other than signals. These include regulatory signs, warning signs, guide signs, and pavement markings.
MUTCD defines the standards used by road managers nationwide to install and maintain traffic control devices on all public streets, highways, bikeways, and private roads open to public travel. The MUTCD is published by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under 23 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 655, Subpart F
