Volunteer Program

About

The City of Bentonville Volunteer Program offers a variety of volunteer opportunities and volunteer resources for individuals, families, and groups.

Due to the generosity of the community, the City of Bentonville has been named a Volunteer Community of the Year each year between 2010 and 2017.

Special Event Volunteer Opportunities

City Wide Clean the Streets Day

The City of Bentonville is participating in Keep Arkansas Beautiful’s Great Arkansas Cleanup™ by organizing a city-wide “Clean the Streets Day” each fall and spring. Our 2023 Clean the Streets Days have been completed for the year. Watch this page for details about 2025 cleanings.

Every year, thousands of Arkansans volunteer to remove trash and discarded debris from Arkansas’s roadways, shorelines, parks, and other public areas during this statewide community improvement campaign.

Volunteers are needed to help pick up litter along Bentonville city streets, trails, along creek beds, and in drainage ways. All supplies are provided.

For more information, contact the Planning Department or call (479) 271-3122.

Letters to Santa Claus - Late November/Early December

Volunteers are needed to assist in the Letters to Santa Program. Starting in mid November, we leave a mailbox out for children to put in letters to Santa, located at the Lawrence Plaza Ice Rink. Volunteers take those letters and write back a handwritten letter as "Santa" in response. Examples and stationary are provided. We ask that the volunteers are adults with legible handwriting.

This is a great way to get in some volunteer hours and spread some holiday cheer. To get involved, contact Jesse Barrett in the Parks & Recreation Department, or call (479) 464-7275.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-A-Street Program

This program is a partnership between the city and the community to keep the city free of litter, one street at a time. Participants adopt a street that is 1/2-mile or more in length and are asked to volunteer a minimum of three times per year. For more information, contact the Planning Department or call (479) 271-3122.
