Wishing Spring Trail Relocation Project
Bentonville, AR……. Bentonville Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the start of
construction on a key section of Wishing Spring Trail. This portion of the Razorback Greenway is
a highly traveled thoroughfare, connecting residents and visitors from Bentonville to Bella Vista
and all points north. Rerouting 1.5 miles of the existing trail and building new bridges across
McKissic Creek and Little Sugar Creek will provide a safer commute for cyclists and pedestrians.
Active transportation infrastructure is paramount for the long-term success of the trail system.
Removing most of the path from the floodway and adding flood-resilient design features should
significantly reduce closure and recovery time after a weather event. This public improvement
project focuses on restoring a vital link between communities for generations to come.
The Walton Family Foundation generously awarded a $3.5 million grant for the full amount of the
trail relocation project. Both Trailblazers and CEI Engineering Associates have been instrumental
with project design. Ground Zero Construction will manage construction, with an anticipated date
of completion in October 2026.
The public is invited to attend a groundbreaking event on the trail section directly behind
Turnbuckle Farm at 821 NW McNelly Road on Friday, October 24, 12:00pm. In collaboration
with Bentonville Moves Coalition, there will be a brief program, refreshments, and music. Parking
is available nearby at Harbor of Praise Church.
