Summary
Like our adult Citizen's Police Academy, the main goals of the youth academy are to partner with the community, explain the operations of the police department, and encourage our youth in the community to be involved and make a difference in whatever career path they choose.
Youth Academy participants gain an understanding of police procedures that are more reflective of everyday police work than what television and movies portray.
Each of participants comes from different backgrounds and have different goals and paths that they are following to get there. However, what remains the same in all each of the youth attendees is their desire to achieve excellence within their own lives and to then leverage those achievements to positively impact the community where they live.
