Youth Art Classes

Build imagination, creativity, and a love for art! Learn about works of art, and explore new art-making materials and techniques with hands-on projects in the studio. All supplies are provided!

Classes will take place every Monday at 4:30pm and 6:00pm. 

$10 per class for members/$13 per class for non-members. 

February Classes: Glowing Art 

This month, we are inspired by art that glows! Join us any Monday of the month to learn more about how artists at Crystal Bridges portray light-up art in a variety of fun ways! Ages 10 and under welcome, ages 4 and under require a caregiver.

February 24th- Blacklight Geometric Paintings | Leo Villareal

Learn more about how this artist uses geometric shapes in his giant outdoor sculptures. Then create your own tape resist painting that glows under blacklight! 

March Classes: Ordinary to the Extraordinary

This month, we are inspired by artwork that uses everyday ordinary objects! Join us any Monday of the month to learn more about how artists at Crystal Bridges turn normal objects into something new. 

March 2nd- Imaginary Friends | Nick Cave

How would your imaginary friend look? Be inspired by Nick Cave’s performance sculptures, then design your very own imaginary friend! 

March 9th- Shadow Boxes | Joseph Cornell

Travel throughout Joseph Cornell’s artwork and learn about the random objects he used to create his tiny worlds. Then make your own travel inspired shadow box. 

March 30th- Identity Collages | Do Ho Suh 

How do you identify yourself? Explore Do Ho Suh’s Some/One and create your own identity collage using a variety of mixed materials. 

April Classes: State of the Art II

This month, we are inspired by Crystal Bridges new exhibit, State of the Art 2020. Join us any Monday of the month to learn more about artists from around the country who use a unique variety of materials to create something new. 

April 6th- Felt Creatures | Joo Young Choi

Felt-it-up in today’s class! Be inspired by Joo Young Choi’s fabric sculptures, then create your own felt creation! 

April 13th- Wall Hangings | Carla Edwards

Dive deeper into Carla Edward’s wall hangings, then create your own wall art to take home. 

April 20th- Wood Paintings | Mae Aur

Explore Mae Aur’s hand cut wood paintings, then design a spectacular wood artwork of your own. 

April 27th- Hoop Paintings | Letitia Huckaby

Round is the new square! Explore Letitia Huckaby’s fabric prints using embroidery hoods, then make your own hoop painting.
