Building Permit Fees

The City of Bentonville determines the valuation of a structure using the International Code Council Building Valuation Data Table. A copy of the table is available on the International Building Code’s website

The valuation table is updated every six months to provide an up-to-date “average” construction cost per square foot. Once the valuation is determined the following table is used to calculate permit fees.

$1001 to $50,000 $30 for the first $1000 plus $5.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $50,000
$50,001 to $100,000 $330 for the first $50,000 plus $4.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $100,000
$100,001 to $500,000 $580 for the first $100,000 plus $3.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof, to and including $500,000
$500,001 and up $2120 for the first $500,000 plus $2.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof

Commercial Tenant In-Fill  

  • Only applicable if suite/area has never been previously occupied
  • $200 for the first $100,000 or less. 
  • $100,001 or more- revert to Schedule of Permits fees above.

Moving Fee

$200 base fee plus $200 per mile (within city limits) plus monitoring fee for Police ($150) and Street Department ($150.

Demolition Fee

For the demolition of any building or structure, the fee shall be:

  • Residential - $50
  • Commercial - $100

Penalties

Where work for which a permit is required by the code is started or proceeded prior, to obtaining said permit, the fees herein specified shall be doubled but the payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of the code in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties prescribed herein.
